Course Overview

This one-day, in-class certification course focuses on theoretical and practical applications for hot stone therapy. Registered Massage Therapists will be eligible to receive 10 "Category A" CEUs.

This course is a 20 hour course, including instructional time (8 hours) and independent work time (12 hours). After the course date, each student is also required to complete and document five independent case studies, as well as write an open-book examination. Certification requires completion of all practicum’s and written exam. Completed work must be submitted to Dr. Nance MacLeod for final grading purposes within 12 months of the actual in-class course date. A minimum grade of 75% is required for certification.

• Properties of basalt stones and other types of stones
• Effects of heat and cold on the body
• Benefits of hot and cold stone therapy and contraindications
• Purchasing your basalt stone set and how to heat the stones
• How to cleanse and re-energize your stones
• Hot stone massage techniques
• Massage oils and lotions
• How to perform a hot stone massage (full body routine)
• How to incorporate aromatherapy into hot stone therapy
• Integrating chakra work into hot stone therapy
• Setting up your therapy room and getting started as a hot stone therapist and much, much more...

Registration Information

This course costs $275 plus applicable taxes. Price will back to $375 in 2009 so these 2 dates will be your last opportunity to get this course for $275.
